U.S. DEPLOYS NUCLEAR SUBS FOLLOWING RUSSIAN OFFICIAL’S THREATS

August 2, 2025

In response to escalating rhetoric from a high-ranking Russian official, the U.S. has strategically repositioned two nuclear submarines to undisclosed locations. The move comes after Dmitry Medvedev, former Russian president and current deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, issued warnings that were deemed provocative.

The decision was announced publicly, with the U.S. leader emphasizing the need for caution. “When threats are made, we must take them seriously,” he stated, without confirming whether the submarines were nuclear-armed or merely nuclear-powered. “Our priority is the safety of our citizens.”

Medvedev had previously dismissed U.S. demands for a ceasefire in Ukraine as “theatrical” and warned that continued ultimatums could push tensions toward conflict. His latest remarks referenced a “dead hand” scenario—a term some analysts associate with Russia’s nuclear retaliation protocols.

The exchange marks the latest in a series of heated exchanges between the two nations. Earlier this month, the U.S. had set multiple deadlines for Moscow to end hostilities in Ukraine, threatening severe economic penalties if ignored. Russia has shown no indication of complying.

Financial markets reacted swiftly to the developments, with Moscow’s stock index dropping sharply after the submarine deployment was announced. The Kremlin has yet to issue an official response.

Medvedev, a vocal supporter of Russia’s military actions in Ukraine, has frequently clashed with Western leaders. Meanwhile, the U.S. maintains that its military movements are purely defensive, aimed at deterring further escalation.

The situation remains tense as both sides continue their war of words, with global observers closely monitoring any signs of further military posturing.
