TRUMP SETS 10-DAY ULTIMATUM FOR PUTIN TO AGREE TO UKRAINE CEASEFIRE

July 28, 2025

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a sharp warning to Russian leader Vladimir Putin, demanding a ceasefire in Ukraine within the next 10 to 12 days. Speaking at a press conference in Scotland, Trump expressed frustration over stalled peace efforts, stating there was “no reason” for further delays.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the move, calling it “extremely significant” and praising Trump’s “clear stance” on ending the conflict. This comes just weeks after Trump initially gave Moscow a 50-day deadline to withdraw or face severe economic penalties, including 100% tariffs on nations trading with Russia.

Despite past optimism about negotiations, Trump now claims talks are futile, citing repeated Russian missile strikes on Ukrainian cities. “We were going to have a ceasefire… and then missiles hit Kyiv,” he said. “I’m not going to talk anymore.”

The Kremlin has remained silent on the new ultimatum. Earlier, Russian officials dismissed Trump’s threats, with one lawmaker declaring that Moscow would not yield to pressure, relying instead on its “weapons, principles, and will.”

Meanwhile, the war grinds on, with Russia intensifying attacks across eastern Ukraine. Previous ceasefire talks, mediated by Turkey, have led only to prisoner exchanges, not a lasting truce. Russia’s demands—including Ukrainian neutrality and military downsizing—remain unacceptable to Kyiv and its Western allies.

With no breakthrough in sight, the prospect of peace within Trump’s tightened timeframe appears slim. As the conflict enters its fourth year, the world watches to see if either side will bend under mounting pressure.
