RUSSIAN MISSILE STRIKE KILLS UKRAINIAN SOLDIERS DURING TRAINING

July 30, 2025

A Russian missile attack targeted a Ukrainian military training facility, resulting in multiple casualties, according to Ukrainian officials. The strike reportedly killed at least three servicemen and wounded 18 others.

While the exact location of the training ground was not officially disclosed, sources suggest it may have been in the Chernihiv region, near Ukraine’s northern border with Russia and Belarus.

Russian defense authorities released footage claiming to show the strike, which they said involved an Iskander ballistic missile. The video, which has not been independently verified, purportedly captured more than 20 cluster explosions in a wooded area. Moscow alleges the number of Ukrainian casualties is significantly higher than Kyiv has acknowledged.

Ukrainian military officials confirmed the attack, stating that despite security precautions, losses could not be avoided. This marks the third such strike on Ukrainian training units in recent months. In May, a similar attack in the Sumy region killed six soldiers, while another last month left 12 dead and 60 wounded.

Following last month’s incident, the commander of Ukraine’s ground forces resigned, citing the deaths of young recruits who had been sheltering at the time.

In a separate attack, Russian forces struck a regional military administration building in Sumy, injuring a 75-year-old woman. The same structure had been hit days earlier by a drone, though no injuries were reported at the time.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities announced that a sixth person has died from wounds sustained in a Russian missile strike on a humanitarian aid distribution point in the Kharkiv region. The attack, which killed four men and two women, ignited a fire that destroyed a local shop.

The latest violence comes amid heightened tensions, with no immediate signs of de-escalation. Ukrainian officials have vowed to investigate whether lapses in security contributed to the recent casualties.
