ENHANCED SAFETY MEASURES ANNOUNCED FOR BOARDMASTERS FESTIVAL FOLLOWING PAST INCIDENTS

August 5, 2025

Organizers of the upcoming Boardmasters festival have introduced new safety protocols after several attendees required medical attention due to a crowd surge at last year’s event. Additionally, authorities investigated reports of a sexual assault during the 2024 festival.

The five-day event, blending live music and surfing, is scheduled to take place in Newquay, featuring performances by prominent artists. Festival CEO Andrew Topham expressed regret over last year’s incidents while emphasizing that safety remains the top priority.

Extensive planning has been conducted in collaboration with local law enforcement and officials to ensure smooth operations. Visitors can expect increased security presence, expanded entry lanes to minimize wait times, and round-the-clock welfare services.

Further adjustments include improved site navigation and medical facilities on-site to alleviate strain on emergency services. A representative from the South Western Ambulance Service confirmed that additional measures will enable faster response times if needed.

Given that many attendees are young and inexperienced with large-scale events, organizers have reinforced safeguarding efforts. A dedicated welfare team will be available to assist festival-goers throughout the event.

Originally launched in 1981 as a surfing competition, Boardmasters has since evolved into a major cultural gathering. This year’s edition aims to balance entertainment with heightened safety to provide a secure and enjoyable experience for all.
